Women's Writes started life as a New Writing Night dedicated to platforming work by female-identifying and non-binary playwrights in 2019.

We've showcased the work of over 35 playwrights since then and have transformed into an "Inspirational" and "Empowering" (DIVA Magazine) Theatre Company and home for "Socially and Politically Imperative" (London Theatre Reviews) New Writing.

We were born out of a  boredom for those  archetypes we see on stage and screen and a desire to redress the balance by promoting Women Writers. We've had sell out shows at The Arcola Theatre, VAULT Festival and The Park Theatre and were nominated for an ONCOMM award for the Women's Writes

Online Festival.

"Championing women playwrights can redress the balance by not only creating female characters with more agency but also creating a platform for women’s voices to be heard. I, and many others, want to see more stories about real, fallible, complex, intelligent, brave women – the kind of women I see around me, written by female-identifying playwrights."
